Frequently asked questions
How many matches are in a round robin?
A single round robin has n times n minus 1, divided by 2 matches, where n is the number of entrants. An 8 player round robin is 28 matches across 7 rounds. A double round robin doubles that to 56 matches across 14 rounds.
What happens with an odd number of players?
With an odd entrant count one player gets a bye each round. The generator adds a BYE placeholder and rotates it through the field so byes are distributed evenly rather than landing on the same person twice.
How is a round robin different from a bracket?
A bracket eliminates players as they lose, so most entrants only play a couple of matches. A round robin guarantees everyone plays everyone, then ranks by record. Many events use a round robin group stage and feed the top finishers into an elimination bracket.
Can I turn this schedule into a live tournament?
Yes. Use the make it a live bracket button and Brackify spins up a round robin that records results, updates standings automatically, and shares through a single link your players can open on any phone.
Is the round robin schedule generator free?
Completely free, with no account needed to generate and copy a schedule. You only sign in if you want to run it as a live, auto-scoring Brackify bracket.
