Frequently asked questions
What is tournament seeding?
Seeding is the process of arranging players in a bracket based on skill or ranking so the strongest competitors are spread apart. It prevents top players from meeting in the first round and makes late-round matchups more competitive.
How does standard bracket seeding work?
In a standard seeded bracket, seed 1 is placed opposite the lowest seed, seed 2 is placed in the far half opposite the second lowest, and the pattern continues so favorites only converge in later rounds. This generator builds that exact order for any field size.
Should I seed by rank or randomly?
Seed by rank when you have a ranking, points race, or prior results that should be rewarded. Use random seeding for casual events or open brackets where no ranking exists and a fair, unbiased draw is the goal.
How are byes assigned?
When your entrant count is not a power of two, the bracket rounds up to the next power of two and the empty slots become byes. The generator gives those byes to the top seeds, so the highest-ranked players advance without an extra match.
Can I send the seeding into a real bracket?
Yes. The send to bracket wizard button carries your seed order into Brackify, where the matchups are pre-arranged and the bracket is ready to run and share through one link.
