Build a season rather than a pairing list

A round robin tells you which teams should meet, but a league also needs dates, available game days, and places to play. This league schedule generator combines those pieces into a usable season draft. Enter unique team names, choose a start date, select the weekdays available for games, and list your fields or venues. The tool creates round robin fixtures and assigns them to the available venue slots. Each team plays once per round, keeping the structure easier to review than a list of unrelated matches.

Choose available game days

The scheduler begins on or after your selected start date and uses only the weekdays you enable. If the start date is not an available game day, it advances to the next matching date. You can select one weekly evening or several days for a more compact competition. The tool does not know local holidays, venue closures, school breaks, or team travel constraints. Review the generated dates against those commitments before publishing. Changing the available days recalculates the draft, so keep a copy of any schedule already shared with teams.

Fields, venues, and daily capacity

Each listed venue can host the number of slots you select per game day. A slot is an organizer planning position rather than a promised kickoff time. When the fixtures in a round exceed daily capacity, the remainder continue on the next available game day. The next round begins only after the current one has been scheduled. This keeps a team from appearing in two rounds on the same date. Give venues distinct labels so the copied schedule is clear, and allow enough real time for changeovers, warmups, and delays within each slot.

Home and away balance

The underlying round robin orientation balances home assignments within one game where the field permits it. Enabling return fixtures adds the reverse matchup, so each pair meets once at home and once away. Home labels can represent hosting duties, jersey color, first controller side, or another administrative role in a neutral-venue event. They do not automatically reserve a venue for the home team. If a club must play at a specific physical home ground, review and adjust the draft after export rather than assuming the label creates that constraint.

Odd fields and byes

With an odd number of teams, one team sits out each pairing round. The circle method rotates the bye through the field, allowing every team to meet every other team without creating a fake opponent. Bye entries are omitted from the dated match list because they do not consume a field or a game slot. An odd field can therefore finish a round using fewer actual games than a similarly sized even field. Announce rest weeks clearly if teams expect a weekly fixture, and do not count a bye as a played win in league standings.

Export a calendar and confirm kickoff times

The calendar export creates an ICS file containing all-day planning entries for each match. Every entry includes the teams, venue, round, and slot number. Import it into your calendar and set exact kickoff times, timezone, duration, and reminders there. All-day entries avoid inventing a local time or daylight-saving rule that you did not supply. They are draft planning blocks, not confirmed reservations. Review an imported sample before distributing the full calendar to players, particularly when several matches share a venue on the same day.

Publish a reviewed league schedule

Copy the dated fixtures for a message or spreadsheet, print the draft for a meeting, or export the calendar for detailed time planning. Confirm field bookings, officials, rest requirements, and any blackout dates before calling the schedule final. This local tool does not notify teams when you make a change and does not track league results. Use the Brackify league system when you need the recurring competition context, and use a live bracket for each event. Keep one authoritative published version and communicate revisions explicitly so teams do not arrive with different schedules.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from a round robin generator?

It adds dates, selected weekdays, venue capacity, and calendar export to the pairing structure. A round robin generator is useful for opponents and rounds; this scheduler is a draft for when and where those fixtures can happen.

Can I generate home and away return fixtures?

Yes. Enable return fixtures and every matchup appears twice with home and away reversed. The venue allocation still follows the available fields you entered, so review club-specific home-ground requirements separately.

Does the calendar include exact kickoff times?

No. ICS entries are all-day planning blocks with a round, venue, and slot. Add exact local kickoff times and durations after importing. This avoids assigning an invented timezone or treating a planning slot as a confirmed booking.

Can I exclude holidays or team blackout dates?

Select the weekdays the competition can use, then review individual dates after export. The current scheduler does not model holidays or per-team availability. Confirm those constraints before you publish the draft as a final season schedule.
