Frequently asked questions
What are the standard Mortal Kombat 1 tournament settings?
Standard MK1 tourney settings: 99-second timer, 2 rounds per game, best-of-3 games per set. Top 8 sets move to best-of-5. Kameo fighters are legal by default, all characters available. Stage selection is blind or via gentleman's agreement. Confirm your settings with players before the event starts.
Are Kameo fighters allowed in MK1 tournaments?
Yes, Kameo fighters are core to MK1's design and are fully legal at all major events (EVO, CEO, Combo Breaker). Some community-run online events ban specific DLC Kameos on a seasonal basis if perceived as dominant. Check current community guidelines and set your house rules in the bracket description.
How long does a 16-player MK1 tournament take?
A 16-player double-elimination event runs approximately 2.5–3.5 hours with two setups. Each Bo3 set averages about 12–18 minutes. 32-player events need 4–6 hours. Always plan for match setup time (controller checks, character-select, etc.) on top of actual match time.
Can I run an online MK1 bracket with Brackify?
Yes. Create the bracket, share the link, and have players DM their opponents to schedule lobby times. Brackify stores the bracket; players coordinate matches via their preferred communication channel (Discord DMs, Xbox Join, PS5 party). You enter results as they're reported.
