Enter your entrants, stations, format, and average match length to get a realistic runtime estimate, complete with a warning when your setup count is about to become a bottleneck.
Set the entrant count, how many stations or setups you have, and your format. These drive the total match count.
Set match length
Estimate the average length of a single match, including the time between games in a best of three or best of five set.
Read the estimate
The calculator divides matches across your stations and adds a realistic allowance for queueing and turnover.
Plan your block
Use the runtime to set a start time, book your venue window, and warn the stream about when top 8 should land.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a tournament take to run?
It depends on entrants, format, station count, and match length. As a rough guide, a 32 player double elimination on 4 stations with 12 minute matches runs a little over 3 hours including overhead. Add stations to go faster, or switch to single elimination to cut the match count in half.
How many stations or setups do I need?
A good rule of thumb is one station per 8 entrants for early rounds. With 64 entrants, 8 stations keeps wait times reasonable. You can run fewer, but players will sit idle and the event will drag.
Why does the estimate add extra time?
Raw match time never matches reality. Calling players, seating them, plugging in controllers, and reporting results all add minutes. The calculator adds an 18 percent allowance so your schedule survives contact with a real venue.
Does double elimination really take twice as long?
Close to it. Double elimination runs nearly double the matches of single elimination because most entrants play through the losers bracket before being eliminated. Plan accordingly when you choose your format.
Is the tournament time calculator free?
Yes, completely free and no account required. When you are ready to run the event, Brackify can host the bracket live and call matches for you automatically.
