3 Team Single Elimination Bracket
3 entrants: matches and advancement
A 3 team single elimination draw uses a 4 slot winners grid. The winners path has 2 rounds and the field contains 1 opening byes. Exactly 2 played matches produce one champion from 3 entrants. Each completed match removes one contender. Every entrant is scheduled for at least 1 played match; an opening bye advances a seed but does not count as a played victory.
3 entrant seeding and the opening round
3 named entrants are placed using Brackify's standard seeding order, pairing the highest seed with the lowest available grid position. The 1 empty slots in the 4 slot draw give first-round byes to the top 1 seeds. Those advances do not add to the 2 competitive matches. Review the draw before starting. The opening pairs below come from the same applyStandardSeeding function used by the bracket generator.
Time budget for 2 matches
For this 3 entrant single elimination event, an example planning assumption is 10 minutes per match on 4 simultaneous stations. The 2 matches represent 20 station-minutes of play, or 10 minutes of evenly distributed station workload. A fully sequential run on one station would use 20 minutes before breaks. This is a workload estimate, not a guaranteed finish: dependent rounds, stream matches, check-in and player availability prevent perfect parallel use. Leave a final station available for the last rounds of the 4 slot draw.
When to use a 3 team single elimination bracket
A small knockout works for a quick final or a compact invitation field. A field of 3 needs a confirmed entrant list before the draw starts. Choose this 3 entrant format when its 2 match workload fits your venue session and your players can follow the published 2 winners rounds. Keep registration and check-in deadlines visible. Resolve duplicate names and missing players before generating the final draw. If attendance changes from 3, return to setup and review the new schedule instead of treating a missing player as an unexplained result.
